What should I do if the lithium battery cannot be charged?

Lithium batteries have always had the characteristics of self-discharge. If they are not used for a long time and are not charged for an intermediate period of time, the self-discharge will exhaust the battery power, resulting in the battery’s voltage being too low and unable to be charged. So, what should I do if the lithium battery cannot be charged? Let’s take a look.

  1. In the use of lithium batteries, it should be noted that the battery will enter the dormant state after being placed for a period of time.
  2. Self-discharge will drain the battery, and the capacity will be lower than the normal value at this time, which will cause the battery to be too low to charge.
  3. But lithium batteries are easy to activate, as long as 3-5 normal charge-discharge cycles can be used to activate the battery and restore its normal capacity.
  4. Due to the characteristics of the lithium battery itself, it is determined that the lithium battery has almost no memory effect, so the new lithium battery in the user’s mobile phone does not require special methods and equipment during the activation process.
  5. Not only in theory, but from my own practice, it is best to use the standard method to charge this “natural activation” method from the beginning.

What is the reason for the lithium battery not charging?

  • Lithium battery is over-discharged
    That is to say, the discharge of the lithium battery is very low, it is in a state of deep discharge, and the power is basically used up, so that it is as low as the cut-off voltage of the lithium battery. At this time, an activation method can be adopted, but this is not necessarily effective;

  • There is a problem with the charger or charging line
    First of all, you should check whether there is any problem with the charger. The method is very simple. You can directly measure the output voltage or connect the load with the corresponding voltage to observe. As for the problem with the line, it will take a little effort. After all, it involves circuit hardware and other problems, it is necessary When directly disassembling and analyzing;
  • Lithium battery has been used for a long time, the battery fails
    The possibility of this happening is relatively small, but it cannot be ruled out. You should be familiar with your own battery, and you should replace the battery after using it for a long time;
  • Problems with battery charging IC or BMS system
    The battery management system has problems due to the unbalance of the cells, which leads to the misjudgment of the management IC and the inability to detect the voltage or current.
