Lithium battery protection: short circuit protection, overcharge protection, over-discharge protection, over-current protection, etc. We custom 18650 battery pack based on customer requests.
We all know that the series voltage of lithium batteries increases, and the parallel capacity increases, so how to calculate the number of series and parallel of a lithium battery pack, and how many cells are composed?
Before performing the calculation, we need to know what specifications of cells are used for the assembly of this lithium battery pack. Because different cells have different voltage capacities, the number of series and parallel required to assemble a lithium battery pack of a specific specification is different. The common types of lithium batteries on the market are 3.7V of lithium cobalt oxide, 3.6V of ternary, 3.2V of lithium iron phosphate, and 2.4V of lithium titanate. The capacity varies with the size, material and manufacturer of the battery.
Take 48V 20Ah lithium battery pack as an example
Assuming that the single-cell specification used is 18650 3.7V 2000mAh
Number of parallel cells: 20Ah/2Ah=10 or 10 parallel (10 cells in parallel)
The whole set of batteries is 13 series × 10 cells = 130 cells
Due to the limited voltage and capacity of the single battery, in actual use, a series-parallel combination is required to obtain a higher voltage and capacity to meet the actual power supply requirements of the device.
Lithium batteries are connected in series: the voltages are added, the capacity remains unchanged, and the internal resistance increases.
Ref 3S lithium battery, it shall 3 cells in series. So its voltage can be 11.1V. It can be triangle and one-line shape.
What’s the li-ion battery pack?
Lithium battery pack refers to the processing, assembly and packaging of lithium battery packs. The process of assembling lithium batteries into a group is called PACK, which can be a single battery or a series-parallel lithium battery pack. Lithium battery pack is usually composed of plastic shell, protective plate, battery core, output electrode, contact piece for connection, and other insulating tapes, double-sided tapes, etc.
Lithium battery cell: the core part of the finished battery
Protection board: It has functions such as overcharge, overdischarge, overcurrent, short circuit, and NTC temperature control intelligent protection.
Plastic shell: the supporting skeleton of the entire battery; the positioning and fixing of the protection plate; carrying and limiting all other non-shell parts.
Terminal lead: Various terminal wire charging and discharging interfaces can be provided for various electronic products, energy storage products, and backup power supplies.
Nickel sheet/bracket: connecting and fixing components of the cell.
The most used connectors are SH, ZH, PH, PHS, PDH, SAN, JST, EH, XH, VH. They come with 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 2.54mm. All can be made based on customers’ demands.
